The great thing about launching drawtism in 2008 was to find out that many families were thrilled that a large scale campaign was raising awareness for autism. We received some great photos from interesting and novel games, letters of thanks, and even a trophy.
The two highest fundraising hosts from 2008 both have children with autism, here is a short profile on them and their games.
SERENITY & PETER
Serenity and Peter brought together their family and friends together for a great afternoon of drawing at the Deer Park Club, complete with trophies (made by Peter). They set up a flipchart stand with the drawtism logo and everyone took their turn to draw a clue... adult and child alike.
Serenity's and Peter's energy knows no bounds and they had a great time. After the game, Serenity walked around to each patron of the Deer Park Club seeking donations... no wonder she was able to raise over $3000 dollars.
Helen

For the adults, Helen organised two drawtism nights in South East Gippsland, as well as two games at local schools to help raise awareness of autism. The big games were held at the Exchange Hotel in Foster and the Royal Standard Hotel in Toor, with some missing out as they closed the doors when they reached capacity.
Helen managed to get over 200 people playing Pictionary, with a quiz about autism thrown in to test everyone's knowledge. Helen was humbled with the great support saying "...the level of support by our community has blown my husband Mark and me away. It confirms to us what a wonderful place we are raising our boys in. We want to say a huge thank you!"
